Athens, Greece – Minister-Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations Office at Geneva

Dr. George Papadatos directed the inaugural meeting of the IGF Athens in 2006, and he participated in the preparation for the World Population Conference and Conference on the Status of Women. He served as the spokesman for the EU at the WSIS Geneva. At the WSIS In Tunisia, he served as the vice president and rapporteur. He was also chair of the Ad Hoc Committee of the Council of Europe, which produced a declaration on "Human Rights, the Rule of Law and the Information Society."

For five years, Dr. Papadatos has taught economics as an assistant professor at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at Radford University, Radford, Virginia, US, and he formerly served at the Greek Mission in New York for a number of years. In addition, he served as chairman of the Second Committee of the General Assembly and vice president of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Dr. Papadatos holds a law degree from the University of Athens, Greece, a master's degree in economics from the University of Utah, and a Ph.D. in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
